Over the last seven or so months, the RoSFest Board of Directors has been faced with the arduous task of making a multitude of decisions; some relatively easy, some not so! That said, selecting the festival’s official photographer was definitely one of the easiest! Florida-based, Joel Barrios, is a familiar face to many of you, and not just our RoSFest regulars, others will have seen him in action at ProgStock, Prog-Power USA, Cruise to the Edge… But his concert photography and talents don’t stop there, as a highly recommended visit to his website will tell you.
Joel doesn’t just photograph what happens on stage, he captures the energy and the essence of the live performance, and in so doing every image echoes his own passion for the live experience. His offstage photography and graphic design are equally inspired as can be seen from his many projects (Joel has worked with the likes of Mike Portnoy, Neal Morse, Flying Colors, Spock’s Beard and many more besides). His warm and generous nature, his professional attitude, and the way he interacts with his fellow human beings make him one of the finest people anyone could wish to know, and we are proud to have him as a member of our team.
Joel’s portrait was captured in a single shot by his daughter, Gabriela. No Photoshop wizardry, just Joel’s meticulous attention to detail in staging the sitting.
